Beginning in the year 2004 Max began racing the new choosen 1990 Mazda Miata in regional races across the North East.  His first race was at New Hampshire International Speedway where he stunned his racing audience with a bold 2nd place finish.  Later, Max competed in an American LeMans support race and was awarded the hard charger award, passing the most competitors in the race.

In 2005, Max was awarded with the Mo-Hud Regions "Rookie of the Year" award for his "fresh-out-of-the-box" driving abilities.
